Welcome to Nebraska CARES, a
statewide partnership of 300 individuals representing 175 public and private
organizations. Our partners are working together to prevent and control cancer and its
effects on our families, friends, and communities.
Program History
Nebraska CARES received initial funding from Center for Disease Control and Prevention for
Comprehensive Cancer Control in 2002. Funding has been renewed each year to continue the
work of reducing cancer morbidity and mortality for the citizens of Nebraska.
Goal
The long term goal of Nebraska CARES is to reduce cancer deaths in Nebraska through the
collaboration of public and private partnerships. We will accomplish this goal by:
- Eliminating cancer disparities
- Reducing cancer risks
- Increasing early detection and screening
- Increasing access to cancer treatment
- Increasing quality of life for those living with cancer
- Provide training and education to improve cancer knowledge for all Nebraska residents
