Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist
Requirements for Certification

To qualify for certification as a nurse anesthetists in Nebraska you must:

1. Have a current Registered Nurse license in Nebraska or a multi-state RN license in another compact state  under the Nurse Licensure Compact Act;
2. Have completed an approved nurse anesthesia education program that has been accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia and Education Programs;
3. Have taken and passed the National Certification Examination (NCE) given by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists. If you are a new graduate, you may obtain a temporary permit for 60 days while awaiting the results of the examination.
4. Within the previous five years, have graduated or practiced as a nurse anesthetist.
