Licensed Practical Nurse-Certified (LPN-C)
Examination
The LPN-C examination is a state-constructed examination that is administered four to 6
times a year at various locations across the state. Attempts are made to coordinate the
dates and locations with the completion dates of the courses and the administration of
other state administered examinations. A yearly calendar is available showing the dates
and locations of the exam.
The examination consists of 100 multiple-choice items covering a test plan developed
around the role of the LPN-C and the content of the approved LPN-C courses. To pass the
examination, the candidate must answer 80% of the questions correctly. The results of the
examination are mailed to the candidates within 30 days of taking the exam and are
reported to the candidates in a numerical value. The results of the exam are listed as
"pass" or "fail" on the License Information
System. If an applicant fails the examination, the examination may be repeated one
time within 1 year of successfully completing the course.
The application for certification as an LPN-C serves as the application for
examination. |
