Radon Measurement Technicians perform radon and radon progeny measurement activities and provide information on test results.
Radon Mitigation Specialists design mitigation systems and perform and evaluate diagnostic tests to determine these systems. May perform duties of Radon Mitigation Technician.
Radon Mitigation Technicians install and supervise the installation of radon and radon progeny mitigation systems on existing buildings.
To qualify for licensure as a Radon Measurement Specialist, you must submit the following:

To qualify for licensure as a Radon Mitigation Specialist, you must submit the following:

- Any combination of two (2) years relevant college education or relevant work experience.
- Relevant post-secondary education means a curriculum in architecture, engineering, building construction, physical sciences, or related disciplines. One year of post-secondary education will consist of a minimum of 24 semester hours, of which at least ten hours must be in the above subject areas, or 36 quarter hours, of which at least 15 hours must be in the above subject areas.
- Relevant work experience means the design, construction and renovation of buildings, or associated heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
To apply for licensure as a Radon Mitigation Technician, you must submit the following:
- A completed
- The licensure fee of $46;
- Documentation of successful completion of a radon measurement course approved by the Department with proof of passing the written examination; and
- Minimum of one (1) year’s experience in the building or construction trades (experience under the supervision of a radon mitigation specialist shall qualify)

- All licenses expire March 31 of each year.
- To renew a license, the licensee must submit the Renewal Notice, pay the licensure fee and attest to meeting the continuing competency requirements.
- Renewal fees are the same as the initial licensure fees.
- A renewal notice will be sent out to the last known employer address or home address at least thirty (30) days prior to expiration.
Continuing Education
A licensed individual must annually complete at least three hours of radon courses, seminars, or meetings offered or approved by the Agency and attest to the completion of these hours.
Exemptions:
If an individual holds a measurement and a mitigation license, a minimum of five hours of continuing education must be completed annually.
Continuing education credit for attending an approved radon measurement or mitigation training course after initial licensure remains valid for three years from date of course attendance.
