Welcome to the EMS Educational Training Materials Loan Service

Sponsored by:
Nebraska Emergency Medical Services Program

What is the EMS Educational Training Materials Loan Service?

EMS has contracted with FETN (Fire & Emergency Training Network) and 24/7 EMS to purchase educational materials in the form of DVDs and videotapes to replace the Link to Life video program.  These educational materials will be available upon request to emergency medical services, training agencies, and EMS instructors to use for educational enrichment or continuing education purposes.

Will the EMS Educational Training Materials Loan Service meet CECBEMS requirements?

When the EMS Educational Training Materials Loan Service is used for in-house training, the service representative will need to document the topic, date of training, identify the training as “In-house training” using DVDs/video training tapes, and the number of clock hours used for the training.

Individuals may also complete emergency medical services continuing education training online at www.24-7ems.com.  To view a list of CECBEMS accredited continuing education classes provided by the 24/7 website, select the Training Curriculum box listed under the Classroom Solution heading.   If interested in taking any of the listed classes, please contact the Norfolk EMS Office (402-370-3496 or connie.hughes@dhhs.ne.gov) and request access to the 24/7 website.  Once enrolled, the user will be given a password and a time period to complete the training.  Upon completion of a passing test, the user will have the opportunity to print out a certificate of completion providing documentation of the training.  Electronic continuing education may be used to satisfy up to ten (10) hours of continuing education required of each certified emergency medical technician or up to six (6) hours for the First Responder during a three (3) year certifying period.

Who may use the EMS Educational Training Materials Loan Service?

Any licensed emergency medical service, training agency, emergency medical services instructor, or certified emergency medical services personnel may obtain a DVD/videotape for job related purposes.

What kind of material is available to be borrowed?

The EMS Educational Training Materials Loan Service will provide instructional materials in both the DVD and videotape format.

How do I request a loan from the EMS Educational Training Materials Loan Service?

A link to take you to the EMS Educational Training Materials Loan Service request form is located at the bottom of this page.  The name, address, and contact phone number of the service or person wishing to borrow the educational training material must be completed along with the title and the title identification number of the educational training material being requested.

There is no limit on the number of DVDs or videotapes that may be requested.  However, based on demand, the Nebraska EMS Program reserves the right to limit the number of DVDs/videotapes checked out by any one service or person at one time.  Every effort will be made to fill the requests in a timely fashion.

Is there a charge for the use of the EMS Educational Training Material Loan Service?

The only expense to the service or person requesting the loan from the EMS Educational Training Materials Loan Service is the cost of returning the borrowed DVD/videotape to the Norfolk EMS Office.  The Nebraska EMS Program will provide an envelope to be used when returning the educational material.  The DVD or videotape may be returned by first class mail or by an overland express service.

How long may I keep the EMS educational training materials?

The standard request time will be two weeks from the date the request is filled.  If there is a need for an extension of your requested time, you will need to contact Connie Hughes at the Norfolk EMS Office (402-370-3496 or connie.hughes@dhhs.ne.gov).  The time extension will be granted based on the availability of the DVD or videotape.

What if the borrower loses or damages the EMS educational DVD or videotape?

The borrower will be notified of the loss or damage of a DVD or videotape.  The borrower will be responsible for documenting the return of the DVD or videotape.  If the return of the material cannot be documented through the postal or overland carrier, the borrower will be responsible for the replacement of the lost DVD or videotape.  If the DVD or videotape has damage not related to shipping, it will be the responsibility of the borrower to replace it at the current cost.

What if the borrower has an overdue EMS educational DVD/videotape?

If the borrower keeps the DVD/videotape one week beyond the due date, they will be notified and asked to return the DVD/videotape.  If the DVD/videotape has not been returned within one month of the original loan date, the borrower will be assessed for the cost of replacing the DVD or videotape.
