EMSC Day - May 21, 2008
This annual observance draws attention to the specialized need for pediatric emergency care
to ensure that every child in the nation receives the highest quality emergency care possible.
- Promote the ICE for EMS project. Cell phone carriers are encouraged to enter an ICE ( In Case of Emergency ) number into their cell phones, so that EMS personnel can quickly find a contact to call.
- Set up a day at your school to allow students to tour your service vehicle.
- Host a dinner to honor EMS personnel, or to thank other entities who regularly assist your service, such as law enforcement, fire, or government officials.
- Partner with local restaurants to provide EMS placemats that serve to educate and entertain.
- Host a blood pressure clinic.
- Have a poster contest and/or an essay contest in local schools, with EMS and 911 as the topics.
- Arrange a child safety seat clinic to be held in your community.
- Partner with a children's museum with an educational exhibit.
- Host a bicycle rodeo, teaching bike safety & control, proper helmet use, and bicycle maintenance.
