Nebraska Swimming Pool Operator’s Clinic Schedule 2008

Why Become Certified?

  • Nebraska Class A swimming pools must be under the direct and immediate supervision of a certified operator. Some communities, i.e., Lincoln and Omaha, require certification for Class B Pools also.

What Does the Certification Mean?

  • Certification means that an individual has attended an operator’s clinic and has passed the clinic exam.

Fees:

  • $40.00 for Nebraska Department Health and Human Services Clinics. 

  • $50.00 for Douglas Co. or Lincoln-Lancaster Co. Clinics.

  • The State will not invoice for Clinics.

What if I fail the Exam?

  • You may retake the exam, but it is treated as a new test and must be accompanied by the appropriate fee.

General Information

  1. For questions concerning your DHHS issued certificate please contact Licensure Unit at (402) 471-2299.

  2. A certificate is good for 2 years.

  3. A person that has attended a previous clinic and has a current certificate may test out.  A student must arrive an hour prior to the clinic, take a closed book test and receive a grade of 80%.

  4. The pool clinic test is open book.  Copies of the manual may be obtained prior to the class at the DHHS Division of Public Health Offices, Lincoln-Lancaster Co. Health Dept. Offices, Douglas Co. Health Dept. Offices, Central District Health Dept. Offices.

  5. If you have a current Certified Pool Operator’s Certificate from the National Swimming Pool Institute (CPO), the Aquatic Facility Operator Certificate (AFO) approved by the National Recreation and Park Association, or the Licensed Aquatic Facility Technician Course by the American Swimming Pool and Spa Association, or an equivalent certificate, it is not necessary to also be certified under the Nebraska Swimming Pool Operator’s Clinic Program.


Omaha Clinics conducted by Douglas County Health Department
Lincoln Clinics conducted by Lincoln / Lancaster County Health Department 

Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to start.  No admittance after class has begun.

If auxiliary aides or reasonable accommodations are needed, please notify  402/471-0903 at least 2 business days before the clinic.  For persons with hearing impairments, contact the  TDD at 711 or Nebraska Relay System 800/833-7352  prior to the clinic.  Advance notice of 3 days is needed when requesting an interpreter.
