MHCP - Examples of Qualifying Medical Conditions
  • Orthopedic, scoliosis, rheumatoid arthritis
  • Cerebral palsy and other neuromuscular conditions
  • Craniofacial disorders including cleft lip, cleft palate, and other facial defects
  • Heart conditions
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Eye condition which require surgery
  • Midline neurological defects including hydrocephalus and spina bifida
  • Significant hearing loss
  • Cancers including leukemia, lymphoma, and some tumors
  • Severe asthma
  • Hemophilia
  • Diabetes
  • Ongoing conditions including burns, seizure, ill premature babies, urology conditions, Crohn’s disease, and other approved conditions

* This is only a list of examples; there may be other medical conditions that would make a child eligible for the Medically Handicapped Children’s Program. Please contact a MHCP worker if your child has a medical condition that you think might qualify him/her for services.
