  • In Nebraska, the lifetime risk of cancer is 1 in 2 for men and 1 in 3 for women.
  • African Americans are 1.4 times more likely to die of cancer than non-Hispanic whites.
  • Cancers of the lung, breast, prostate, colon, and rectum account for more than half (55.4%) of Nebraska’s 2003 diagnoses.
  • The 2003 incidence rate for cancer in Nebraska was 455.9 and the mortality rate was 178.3.
