What is Every Woman Matters? Every Woman Matters is a program that can help you get your annual health check-up. The program is for women 40 through 64 years of age, who have limited or no health insurance, and have a low or medium income.  PROGRAM STATISTICS Since its inception in 1991, EWM has screened 60,253 women, diagnosed 781 breast cancers and diagnosed 60 invasive cervical cancers. In 2006-07 the EWM program screened 9,992 individual women, of which 465 are at or below the Federal poverty guidelines. 72% of all EWM clients report having no medical insurance coverage, with 87% of new enrollees having no medical insurance. Since its inception in 2001, the EWM program,WISEWOMAN (Well-integrated Screening and Evaluation for Women Across the Nation) has screened 13,939 women and diagnosed 1,496 new cases of hypertension, 1,497 new cases of high cholesterol and 335 new cases of diabetes New in 2005, the Colorectal Cancer Screening program has enrolled 2,000 people, including 165 men. 130 people have been referred for colonoscopy. ^ Top of Page
What does Every Woman Matters pay for? Pelvic exam with a Pap test Clinical breast exam Teaching of breast self exam Blood pressure check Cholesterol check Blood sugar (glucose) check Mammogram	Every Woman Matters also pays for other follow up tests including cervical and breast biopsies and other tests to diagnose breast and cervical cancer. These services are not available for women under 40 or over 64.  However, if you are under 40 and need a breast biopsy, or if you have had an abnormal Pap test, please contact us at 1-800-532-2227 to see if we can help. ^ Top of Page
How do you enroll? You can enroll in Every Woman Matters by contacting the places listed below to receive an enrollment form: Call Every Woman Matters at 1-800-532-2227 Email us for an enrollment form Print and Mail Enrollment Forms English   Spanish Contact a local Outreach Agency in your area Contact a doctor's office or clinic.  Many doctors and clinics are a part of Every Woman Matters.  Ask your doctor or clinic to be sure. After you fill out the enrollment form, what should you do? Send it to Every Woman Matters at P.O. Box 94817, Lincoln, NE  68509-4817 or give it to your local outreach worker.  If you enroll at a doctor's office or clinic, they will take care of the paperwork. In a week to ten (10) days you will receive a Client Information Booklet, a list of participating doctors and clinics, and a Screening Visit Card. Choose a doctor or clinic off the list and make an appointment.  When you make the appointment, tell your doctor or clinic that you are part of Every Woman Matters. Take your Screening Card with you to your exam. Every Woman Matters will notify you when it is time for your next annual check up. ^ Top of Page

Nebraska Colon Cancer Screening Program The Nebraska Colon Cancer Screening Program (NCP) is the newest program added to Every Woman Matters.  Nebraska is one of only five such programs in the nation.  The goal of NCP is to increase screening for colon cancer and to decrease the number of Nebraskan's who are diagnosed and die from colon cancer. This program is what we call a Demonstration Program!  This means that research is being done to see if this type of program works.  In order to carry out the program there are strict eligibility guidelines based on personal and family history.  Not everyone who completes an enrollment form will be eligible. Anyone over the age of 50 (man or woman), is eligible to complete an Colorectal Health History Form and Release of Medical Information..

Nebraska Every Woman Matters Foundation The Breast and Cervical Cancer Advisory Committee was established by Federal legislation in 1990 and is supported by the Nebraska Health and Human Services Stystem, Office of Women's Health. The advisory committee has taken a huge step in the fight against cancer.   The committee has formed the Nebraska Every Woman Matters Foundation (NEWMF) and is now an affiliated fund of the Nebraska Comunity Foundation (NCF). The NCF provides affiliated fund status to communities and organizations to achieve non-profit status without forming their own non-profit corporation.  Funds received will be designated for cancer treatment costs for uninsured and underinsured women diagnosed with breast cancer, cervical cancer, or precervical cancer through the Every Woman Matters Program. Vision of NEWMF:  Every woman in Nebraska who is diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer has access to quality treatment, education, and rehabilitation for her cancer regardless of age, race, or social economic level. Mission of NEWMF:  To provide financial resources for those women diagnosed with breast and cervical cancer in the Every Woman Matters Program, according to their financial situation, so that no woman goes untreated due to lack of financial resources.     ^ Top of Page
