No one should be more concerned about your health than you. The world is
full of many dangerous diseases but you can avoid some of them if you take preventive
action. All you have to do is keep your immunizations up to date. The childhood
and adolescent immunization schedule and information on specific vaccine-preventable
diseases can be found at www.cdc.gov/nip.
If you didn't get all of your shots, don't worry. You dont need to start over.
Talk to your doctor or clinic about finishing the series you missed. The number of shots
needed depends on the age that you started your immunizations. Although vaccinations may
hurt for a short time, they protect from worse pain and harm later.
Records
At this time, Nebraska does not have a statewide immunization database, so please keep
a record of all your immunizations for yourself. The immunizations should be entered by
name along with the date you received them, and the name of the clinic or doctor's office
that gave them to you. This record gives health care providers the information they need
to know so they can treat you appropriately in the future.
