Office of Minority Health & Health Equity
Equalizing health outcomes and eliminating health disparities
Reaching Racial/Ethnic Minorities
with Health Education
As part of the State
Partnership Grant Program to Improve Minority Health, the Nebraska Office of Minority
Health and Health Equity (OMH) held 14 meetings across the state in the fall of 2006 to
discuss reaching minorities with health education.
The
purpose of the meetings was to assess minority health education needs. The goal was to
learn how the OMH could better help its community partners be more effective in their
minority health education efforts.
87
organizations participated in the meetings. The participating communities serve a variety
of minority population groups, including non-immigrant, immigrant, and refugee groups.
Results of
the meetings indicate that the Strategic Plan of the Nebraska Office of Minority
Health is well designed to address many of the needs of communities across Nebraska. |
