Midwest Methamphetamine Conference Set for May 7-8 Lincoln The upcoming 2007 Midwest Methamphetamine Conference will focus on the health and social consequences of meth use. The conference will be held at Embassy Suites, 1040 "P" Street, in Lincoln on May 7th and 8th.

Jeanne Atkinson, Communications and Legislative Services Division, (402) 471-8287"Well have something of interest for everyone who sees the effects of meth, from nurses and social workers to law enforcement and even landlords," said Jackie Miller, deputy director for the Health and Human Services System (HHSS). "There will be an emphasis on the Native American population in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, South Dakota and Nebraska."
Jesse Hambrick, Jr. opens the conference with a presentation entitled, "Will You Survive This Ice Age?" Hambrick is a Sergeant with the Douglas County, Georgia Sheriffs Office, in charge of drug and gang prevention. He is coordinator of the Douglas County Georgia Methamphetamine Task Force and is trained to respond to and manage hazardous materials resulting from clandestine meth labs.
Participants can choose from workshops ranging from meth and babies, prevention programs, and community costs to Tribal presentations and a two-day training on cleaning up meth-contaminated properties.
The registration fee is $100 for both days or $75 for one day and includes continental breakfasts, lunches and conference materials.
