HHSS Tobacco Free Nebraska Conference Set for April 24
Registration Deadline: April 17Lincoln The 2007 Tobacco Free Nebraska State Conference will focus on what makes tobacco prevention programs successful. Sessions will include how to reach different audiences, prevent tobacco use, and evaluate the success of efforts. The conference is sponsored by the Nebraska Health and Human Services System (HHSS) and Health Education Inc.
The event will be April 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel in Lincoln. "Assignment: Tobacco Control" is the conferences theme.
"Successful tobacco prevention programs tailor efforts to specific groups. Volunteers and evaluation are also needed to ensure that a program is effective," said Judy Martin, administrator of the HHSS Tobacco Free Nebraska program. "This conference is a great way for attendees to share, be energized, and return to their communities and use what theyve learned."
Featured speakers and presenters include Paul Fell, Niki Sue Mueller, and Jan Gascoigne. Fell is a Nebraska-based freelance cartoonist who often features tobacco-related themes in his work. Mueller is with the Wyoming Through with Chew program. Gascoigne is with Bacchus & Gamma, a university and community-based network that works on tobacco prevention plans.
Conference registrations are due by April 17 and the fee is $50 per person. The registration form is available on the Web at: http://www.hhss.ne.gov/tfn, or by calling (402) 471-2101 in Lincoln.
