LincolnThe Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Regulation and Licensure has issued an emergency order requiring an Omaha child care provider to immediately cease operation of a child care business.
Seeds of Abraham, Inc., 2412 North 45th Street, Omaha, a Family Child Care Home II, must cease providing care to any children. The order was effective March 1.
Lynne Shepard-Hill, who is listed as the primary child care provider, on February 27, "admitted to an officer with the Omaha Police Department that on February 13, 2007, she physically disciplined a five-year-old foster child in her care by striking him with a belt, resulting in bruising to the child on the buttocks, right leg, and right wrist. Shepard-Hill was issued a criminal citation for Child Abuse, and is scheduled to appear in Douglas County Court on March 27, 2007."
A Family Child Care Home II is authorized to provide child care for a maximum of 12 children.
Emergency orders are issued when necessary to protect the immediate physical well-being and safety of a child in a child care program.
