State Board of Health Members Appointed
LincolnFive new members have been appointed and one reappointed to the State
Board of Health.
Eric Berggren, P.E., is a professional environmental engineer from Gretna. He works at
HDR, Inc., in Omaha. He replaces Tim Crockett, P.E., of Omaha on the Board of Health.
Daniel Bizzell, EdD, is a clinical psychologist at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings.
He resides in Kearney. Dr. Bizzell previously served on the State Board of Psychology. He
replaces Gwen Weber, PhD, of Hastings.
Theodore Evans, Jr., DVM, is a veterinarian from Tecumseh. He owns practices in both
Adams and Tecumseh. He replaces Kent Forney, DVM, of Lincoln.
Kenneth Kester, PharmD, JD, is a pharmacist from Lincoln. He is a pharmacy team leader
at the Nebraska Heart Hospital. He replaces Sam Augustine, PharmD, RP, of Omaha.
John Tennity, DPM, is a podiatrist from Eagle. He works at Capital Foot Center in
Lincoln. He replaces Clint Schafer, DPM, of North Platte.
Paul Salansky, O.D., is an optometrist from Nebraska City. He has practices in both
Nebraska City and Syracuse. Dr. Salansky has been reappointed to the board, having served
a partial term due to a resignation.
The State Board of Health appoints members to 27 health care professional licensing
boards. Its members review rules and regulations, as well as credentialing and
scope-of-practice changes of health professionals. The board has a public health
recognition program for community preventive health efforts. Its members prepare an annual
report to the Governor.
The boards 17 members are appointed by the Governor, with approval from the
Legislature, to five-year terms. Members include two medical doctors, two nurses, a
hospital administrator, a dentist, a veterinarian, an engineer, a pharmacist, an
optometrist, a podiatrist, an osteopath, a chiropractor, a physical therapist, a mental
health professional, and two members representing the interests of the public. For more
