The Norfolk Veterans’ Home mural is by Omaha artist Stephen Cornelius Roberts.   It features the faces of current or past members along with other veterans.  Roberts won the competition held by the Nebraska Capitol Murals Commission to paint eight mural panels for the Memorial Chamber on the 14th floor of the Nebraska State Capitol. Stephens spent from1992 – 1996 painting the large murals in his art studio.
bus.jpg (541872 bytes) The Norfolk Veterans’ Home bus was purchased for the home back in 1975 with help from local veterans’ organizations and special donations.  The bus meant veterans from the home “could ride for enjoyment and go places” according to original documents.
