Environmental
Risk Assessment
Superfund Sites In Nebraska
The Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act
of 1980, as amended (CERCLA, or Superfund) establishes a national program for
responding to releases of Hazardous substances into the environment. The National Oil and
Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan (NCP) is the regulations that implements
CERCLA.
The Nebraska Risk Assessment Program has assisted the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(U.S. EPA), the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ), and the University of
Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) with writing or reviewing risk assessments for these
Superfund sites.
The U.S. EPA
Website highlights the location of Superfund sites in Nebraska and the work that has
been completed to address these hazardous waste sites.
