Asbestos Demolition Information
ATTENTION:
PROPERTY OWNERS & CONTRACTORS
Before you begin demolition or renovation of a project by anyone other
than a homeowner (in that persons residential property of 4 units or less), each
residential or commercial property owner must have a thorough inspection for
asbestos-containing materials.
This inspection must be performed by a Nebraska-certified asbestos inspector.
A signed statement by the inspector stating that the building is free of
asbestos-containing material must be submitted with the application for demolition or
renovation. The statement must include the following: inspection date, project site
address, Inspector name, state certification number and statement stating that the
structure, or portion involved in renovation is free of asbestos-containing material.
Failure to do so will result in the permit being denied.
If a structure is mostly of basic building material (wood, brick, glass, concrete, or
metal), a signed statement by the property owner stating the absence of asbestos material
may be submitted instead of the inspectors statement. The statement shall include
the following: property owners name, property owners address, project site
address, and statement certifying that the structure consists only of wood, brick, glass,
concrete, or metal. Failure to do so will result in the permit being denied.
